What is a bone graft?
When a tooth is removed before an implant, the jawbone naturally goes through bone loss. To regrow the bone, and when it is not possible to place blocks of bone in the jaw, a soft bone substitute is added, and a membrane is placed on top. This technique of bone grafting regrows bone, which enables the jaw to take the implant.
What is a three unit implant supported bridge?
Implants are titanium screws that are placed within the jawbone to support a number of dental prostheses such as crowns, bridges and dentures. Implant supported bridges can be used when there is two or more missing teeth. As the name suggests, the implants and abutments are placed in the toothless gaps for high levels of stability of your bridge. It is also possible to have a pontic, or an artificial tooth which adjoins the two teeth adjacent to it, in between two implant supported teeth if it is not possible to have three implant supported teeth.
