What is teeth whitening and teeth bleaching?

Teeth whitening refers to the restoration of teeth to their natural colour by removing stains from the tooth surface. Teeth bleaching refers to the whitening of teeth to a colour lighter than their natural colour. Active ingredients such as hydrogen peroxide and carbamide peroxide are bleaching agents most often used in teeth bleaching.

At ADHPL, we do Philips Zoom Tooth Whitening, which involves the following:

  1. Your mouth is prepped for whitening as a layer of whitening gel is added to your teeth
  2. The blue LED lamp (called WhiteSpeed) is shined onto the teeth for acceleration of whitening.
  3. The previous step is repeated.
  4. When you reach the desired colour, another gel is applied to the teeth to help protect your enamel.
