What is an abscess?
A dental abscess is a swollen collection of pus located on gum tissue, the roots of the teeth, and the surrounding oral region. It is formed as a result of bacterial infections that enter the dental pulp, deep periodontal pockets, or trauma, which is food etc. which is embedded deeply within the gum.
What is abscess drainage?
The most common treatment of an abscess is abscess drainage, where a small cut is made in the abscess to drain the pus from it. Afterwards, the area is cleaned and disinfected with a saline solution.
